First, a browser profile without Facebook

Facebook may limit or check accounts that browse a lot automatically. The Ads Library works without signing in, so install MetLed in a separate profile with no Facebook account in it.

Chrome: your profile picture (top right) → Add → Continue without an account.

Install

  1. Download the file above.
  2. Right-click it → Extract All… → choose a folder you will keep, for example Documents\MetLed. Don't delete this folder later: the browser runs MetLed from it.
  3. In the new profile, open chrome://extensions (Edge: edge://extensions, Brave: brave://extensions).
  4. Switch on Developer mode (top right in Chrome and Brave, on the left in Edge).
  5. Click Load unpacked and pick the folder from step 2 (the one with manifest.json inside).
  6. A welcome page opens: enter your invite code and sign in with Google.
  7. Pin MetLed: puzzle-piece icon → the pin next to MetLed.

The browser may show a notice about developer-mode extensions now and then. That is because MetLed is installed from a file rather than from a store; it is fine to keep it on.

Updating

  1. Download the new version from this page.
  2. Extract it into the same folder as before, replacing the files.
  3. Open the extensions page and click the reload arrow on MetLed. You stay signed in.
